August 2000 – Present

The Aboriginal Canada Portal (ACP) is a bilingual Web site that represents the "Aboriginal Peoples" cluster under the Canadians Gateway, on the Canada Site (canada.gc.ca). It is part of the GOL initiative.

The ACP is a single window to Canadian Aboriginal on-line resources, contacts, information, and government programs and services. The portal offers ease of access and navigation to listings of Aboriginal associations, businesses, organizations, bands, communities, groups, news and peoples. The Aboriginal Canada Portal is a powerful tool to connect together Aboriginal peoples from all across Canada.

Alika Internet Technologies Inc. is currently a key contractor performing a variety of translation and proofreading work requested for the Aboriginal Canada Portal and its Working Group, as well as translation and proofreading work requested for the Director General (DG) and the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM).

The services Alika provides to the Aboriginal Canada Portal include translation of documents from English to French; proofreading documents written in English for typographical errors, spelling mistakes and design and layout inconsistencies; and providing a parallel read for texts translated from English to French.

Documents include most of the Web site pages; agendas; meeting minutes; PowerPoint presentations describing the ACP initiative and the vision of the Cluster; reports on the Connecting Aboriginal Canadians initiative; backgrounders; surveys; public opinion research reports; publicity and marketing material; brochures; communication; and correspondence.

Most topics are related to the Aboriginal Canada Portal Web site; the Aboriginal Canada Portal Working Group; Government On-Line; various Aboriginal, First Nations, Inuit and Métis issues; funding requirements and several connectivity issues for Aboriginal peoples (e-health, on-line culture, citizen engagement and on-line economic development, etc.).

Alika participated in the writing, editing and rewriting of content pages for the Web site, such as Contact Us, Help, About Us, FAQs, and descriptions that can be found in the topic pages.
